No other community organization in the area has the same reach and ability to deliver much-needed programs directly to schools.

These programs include supporting health and learning through the School Breakfast Program, recruiting skilled volunteers to help students overcome language differences or learning difficulties, and teaching essential skills to high school students in preparation for post-secondary education and work.

Our organization’s history dates back to 2013, when we incorporated as a non-profit organization called 8667837 Canada Society. From the beginning, our mandate was to develop and advance educational programs that enhance learning but fall outside the scope of regular curriculum, and to encourage dialogue and cooperation between educators, local business and community organizations.

Over the years, we have developed and collaborated with other organizations in ensuring that no one is left behind, and our mandate had remained unchanged which is to promote inclusive societies through achievement (civic and economic) and empowerment strategies aimed at poverty eradication, social integration, full employment and decent work for all. Our targeted areas of interest include the geographic and social peripheries and we provide market-ready skills training and interventions to advance social inclusion, justice and labour force participation.

Through numerous and ongoing community partnerships we intend to create over 40 valuable community programs, including:

  •  The School Breakfast Program, with the goal of serving 1,000 students at 25 schools in its first year. As the program matures, our goal is to serve over 13,500 students each morning in 191 schools
  • Seniors Volunteering in Education matching 35 seniors with 15 schools in the area. Our goal is to offer a Volunteers in Education program that places 1,500 individual volunteers in 152 schools.
  • Our goal is to create a number of Educators Awards and EduGala  to celebrate the extraordinary contribution of educators from kindergarten through PhD.
  • The Substance Abuse and Youth in Schools Coalition will be established with the aim of developing a comprehensive drug and alcohol abuse program that focuses on prevention, education, and treatment for students in Grades 7 to 12. The goal of this program is to include over 1,400 local students and more than 200 parents with free substance abuse counselling in the near future.
  • Assistive Technology, a collaboration between local school boards and post-secondary institutions, will be launched. Through this initiative, our goal is to provide assistive technology support for students and educators in K-12 schools and for students transitioning to post-secondary studies.
  • In the next five years, we will reach a milestone of assisting over 7,572 students in grades 5 to 12 with hands-on learning experiences in entrepreneurship, business, and financial literacy.
  • With the next fiscal year, we intend to launch two new programs: Employer Connections, a program that will be designed to connect high school students with employers and workplace skills, and Classroom Gardens, aimed at promoting student learning and well-being for K-12 students.

With the help of thousands of volunteers, our amazing partners, dedicated donors, and our experienced staff, we will continue to provide our innovative programming to K-12 students in the area, expanding our reach each year.
